This tour gives us an ample taste of several varieits of the great natural beauty of Kerala, which is frequently called “God’s own country.” During our voyage we will enjoy walks through the gorgeous tea plantations of Munnar, the wild animal conversavation parks of Periyar, a houseboat ride on the famous Kerala backwaters in Allepey, and a day at beautiful Varkala Beach, where we’ll have the opportunity to visit an elephant park, receive Ayurvedic massages,and take an Indian cooking class. We’ll also sample a bit of ancient culture as we take in a performance of Kerala’s famous Kathakali dance in Cochin.

Arrival at Cochin International Airport. Transport to hotel.
Day 2: Cochin.
Cochin is the most cosmopolitan city of Kerala, and an important center of commerce, especially for spices, cashews and fish. The city is surrounded by a comglomeration of islands and peninsulas. We will stay in Fort Kochi, with its picturesque small streets and colonial style houses, originally designed by the Dutch, English and Portuguese colonists.
Day 3: Cochin - Munnar.
Today we drive to Munnar, located high in the verdant, cool, Kerala hills, a lovely area where the English spent their summers. Known for its endless lush tea plantations, stunning mountain views and spectacular valleys, this is a natural paradise, truly a feast for the eyes and soul.
Day 4: Munnar.
Today we will get to know Munnar and its surroundings. We will walk among the green tea plantaciones, visit the Eravikulam National Park, last bastion of one of the world's rarest wild goats, the Nilgiri Tahr.
Day 5: Munnar- Periyar.
Today we will continue our journey with a drive to Periyar, the largest and most beautiful nature reserve in Kerala.
Day 6: Periyar.
Today we will be able to enjoy various activities for which this nature reserve is famous: boat trips on the lake, some light trekking, take rides on elephants, and an aromatic visit to their spice garden.
Day 7: Periyar - Kumarakom.
Today we drive to Kumarakom, to embark on a ride in a kettuvalam, a traditional Kerala house boat, now redesigned like a luxurious hotel! We’ll enjoy a traditional Kerala lunch while onboard, as we glide through the famous Kerala backwaters, a vast network of inland waterways which interlace throughout much of the state. This provides us with rare glimpses of the daily life in rural Kerala, not to mention some amazing opportunities for photos. We’ll spend the night on board the boat!
Day 8: Allepey.
We will disembark upon arrival at our next hotel, a charming homestay on the banks of the backwaters, which will give us a special taste of Kerala hospitality and a glimpse of life as it’s lived on the banks of the canals.
Day 9: Allepey - Marari Beach.
Today we leave the backwaters behind and drive to the Arabian Sea, to enjoy the tranquil sands and pristine breakers of Marari Beach.
Day 10: Marari Beach.
We now have two days free to relax on these magnificent beaches. We can swim, tan, have some Ayurvedic massages, go shopping, take a cooking class, or just lie on the beach and enjoy the gorgeous sunsets.
Day 11: Marari Beach.
More of the same. What a life!
Day 12: Marari Beach - Cochin.
Today we make our journey from the beach back to Cochin, for a bit more tourism of this fascinating city.
Day 13: Cochin.
Cochin offers us many possibilities: the district of Mattancherry, where the palace is found, with its fantastic painted murals; the ancient synagogue of the Jewish district; the shops of local crafts, gifts, antiques, teas and spices; the large Chinese fishing contraptions which line the river; and the many churches of the area. In the evening we will see a performance of Kathakali dance, the classic theater style of Kerala, in one of the oldest theaters in the region. When the hour arrives we will accompany you to the Cochin International Airport for your departing flight.
